Barndominiums · Central Ohio

You've got a vision. We'll help you build it.

Not just the shell. The whole thing — from bare ground to a finished space you're actually proud of. That's how Hilltop works.

Most builders will quote you a shell. That's where the headaches start.

You hire a builder for the structure. Then you're on your own to find someone for the site prep. Someone else for the concrete. Another guy for insulation. By the time you're done coordinating, you've spent more time managing subs than enjoying your new space.

That's not how Hilltop works.

Hilltop handles the whole project. You hand over the vision — we take it from there.

Site prep. Concrete. Shell. Insulation. Interior framing. Raphael coordinates it all and takes full responsibility for how it turns out. If something isn't right, he fixes it — even when it's a sub's mistake. Because at the end of the day, it's his name on the project.

What "from the ground up" actually means

1

Your vision, refined

You tell Raphael what you're thinking. He listens, asks the right questions, and often steers you toward something even better than you originally imagined. That's not sales talk — it's the part of the job he genuinely loves.

4

Site prep and pad coordination

Before anything gets built, the ground has to be right. Hilltop handles this — or coordinates it — so nothing downstream gets compromised by a bad foundation.

7

Concrete

The slab is what everything sits on. Get it wrong and you'll know about it for decades. Hilltop gets it right.

10

Shell — built to last

26-gauge steel. Premium-treated posts. Post protection systems. The materials Hilltop uses cost a little more — and make a big difference over the life of your building.

13

Insulation and interior framing

Whether you're finishing out a full living space or just want a shop that doesn't freeze in January, Hilltop takes it to the point where it's actually usable — not just a cold shell you still have to figure out.

Who Calls Hilltop Post Buildings?

Usually someone who just bought a few acres outside Columbus. They've got space now — real space — and a picture in their head of what they want to do with it. Sometimes it's a barndominium. Sometimes it's a workshop with a car lift and a place to actually enjoy it. Sometimes it's a beautiful poolside barn that's as much about the aesthetic as the function.

What they all have in common: they want someone they can trust to handle it. Not a list of subs to manage. Not guesswork. A builder who picks up the phone, keeps them in the loop, and does what he says he'll do.

Barndominiums

Living space and function under one roof. Raphael specializes in the kind of creative, high-end builds that make people stop in their driveway and just look at what they built.

Poolside and hobby barns

Artistic, beautiful, and built to complement your property. These are the projects Raphael loves most — where design matters as much as function.

Shops and garages

Real working space. Room for vehicles, equipment, lifts. Insulated and finished the right way so it's actually useful year-round.

Good old regular barns

Agricultural or storage, built solid. No frills — just quality materials and a crew that takes pride in what they put up.

Why our structures are built to last:

26-Gauge Steel

Most builders use 29-gauge steel because it's cheaper. We use 26-gauge because it's stronger, holds up better to Ohio weather, and still looks sharp years later. It's a small difference that adds up to a lot over the life of a building.

50-Year Posts

Our posts aren't standard lumber. They're premium treated posts rated to last 50 years in ground contact. That's the backbone of your building — and we don't cheap out on it.

Post Protection Systems Available

We also offer optional post protection systems that wrap and seal the posts at the ground line — where moisture and rot do the most damage. It's one of the smartest upgrades you can add to a new building. Ask us about this when we put your proposal together.

Meet Raphael

Raphael runs Hilltop Post Buildings out of Tarlton, Ohio. He's been building custom pole barns and barndominiums across Central Ohio for years — Fairfield, Pickaway, Ross, and the fast-growing ring around Columbus where people are buying 5-acre lots and finally building what they've been imagining.

The thing people notice most after working with him isn't just the quality of the building. It's how easy the whole process was. He texts back quickly. He picks up the phone. He tells you what's going on before you have to ask. And if something doesn't go right, he owns it.

"Just give me the project, and I will handle it for you."

— Raphael, Hilltop Post Buildings

He's also got a serious eye for design. The barndominium and poolside barn work — where the aesthetic matters as much as the structure — is the kind of project that gets him excited. He'll tell you honestly when a layout isn't quite right, and he'll usually have a better idea ready.

Custom Barndominiums in Central Ohio

Hilltop builds primarily in Fairfield, Pickaway, and Ross Counties — with a preference for Fairfield, where projects move faster and regulation is straightforward. If you're in the Columbus area or anywhere in Central Ohio, reach out. Raphael will tell you straight whether the project is a fit.
